Sleds and Kegs is a Colorado 501(c)(3) non-profit event created for the locals, by the locals in Crested Butte, Colorado. It's an annual celebration that combines outdoor winter activities, music, and local vendors to raise funds for mental health initiatives, cancer support, pet rescue, food pantries, watershed conservation, and scholarships for community members. I first got involved in 2014, bringing Funktion One sound and serving as the audio engineer. In 2025, I'm stepping into a creative direction role for the 10-year anniversary, bringing a ton of magic to this incredible community event.
Sleds and Kegs is a Colorado 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to support and uplift the Crested Butte and Gunnison Valley communities by raising funds for mental health initiatives, cancer support to all Gunnison County residents, a local pet rescue, food pantries, Crested Butte's watershed, and provide scholarships for the community members we've lost. Through their unique combination of outdoor winter activities, music, and local vendors, they create opportunities for connection, healing, and giving back to those who need it most.
The event originated as a simple and fun idea for a backyard get-together, and with overwhelming support from the community each year, they have provided growing annual donations to local nonprofits including CB State of Mind (Mental Health), Oh Be Dogful Pet Rescue, Coal Creek Watershed Coalition, Living Journeys, and multiple scholarships in honor of local fallen members from the community.
I have nothing but phenomenal things to say about Sleds and Kegs and everybody involved. It's a non-profit event that just has the best possible vibes, and all the money goes to supporting non-profits. I actually first got involved with them when Joy's Kitchen became one of their non-profit partners, and they donated significantly over 10,000 meals to Joy's Kitchen in 2024.
